What Are Macros?
The question that is on everyone’s mind, what exactly are macros?
There are three macros or macronutrients we all eat on a daily basis; protein, carbohydrates and fat. These macronutrients provide us energy in the form of calories, but how much of each should we be consuming?
Well, there is no definitive answer to that question.
Our bodies are unique and different and the consumption of each macronutrient cannot be established using formulas or equations.
What works for one person may not necessarily work for another. Some people do well with high carbohydrate diets where as others do better on higher fat diets.
Counting calories is a very 2-dimensional way of dieting as it only focuses on how much you’re eating, not what you’re eating.
Counting macronutrients however covers both bases and provides individuals with much more flexibility when it comes to food choices.
Finding the right ratio between the three macronutrients is what ultimately leads to an effective, sustainable and successful diet, but finding this ratio can be difficult for those who are unfamiliar to dieting and nutrition.
